The 1800 Federal Census is stored at the National Archives (film # M32-26, pages 390-396).  A copy of the microfilm is available for public perusal at the Historical Society of the Town of Bolton (reservation required).  All care and accuracy were taken in transcribing this index.  As the original data were handwritten, errors caused by handwriting interpretation, legibility or condition of the census sheet are possible.


1800 Census Totals
The 1800 Federal Census enumerator listed by name only those individuals who were deemed "Head of Household" by the census taker.  All members of the household were counted, though no other names were recorded.  Counts were separated and grouped by age, ethnicity and slave status.  Included in the index tables below are the name of head of household, number of people living in the house (including the head of household) and the order of appearance in the enumeration list (the lines were not originally numbered, but were added by myself).  Thus, you will need to refer to the original documents or census transcriptions, to find out the age range in each household.  The census sheets do not designate family relations from non family members living in the same house.
